Testing the action of the grease box once it was mounted under the bench – pretty satisfying. Now I just need to load it up with grease.

Hi Keiran,
I’m sure I’m missing something, but why do you need a box of grease under your bench?
I’ve got a few ideas, but I’ll see if they fit with your reasons:)
Cheers
George.
To aid in the use of hand tools. Saw plates, plane bottoms et cet. glide through the work more easily. Also you can use wax or oil but tallow is more traditional.
That was one guess. Will have to try tallow (will dripping do?), I’ve got a candle in my tool bag for mobile work, and use Paul Sellers’ rag-in-a-can in the workshop (which I prefer over the candle, as it’s quicker, and also useful to run over the planer thicknesser and table saw tables.
